Each reporting period is a separate assessment. Create a new one when your financial year rolls over.
Create the assessment
Go to Assessments.
Select Create New Assessment.
Name it, for example FY27.
Set the date range. Use the This FY or Last FY shortcut if it fits.
Select Create new assessment.
Assessment date ranges cannot overlap. If you get an error, check the dates on your existing assessments.
What carries forward
These belong to your organisation, not to an assessment, so they are already there:
Your chart of accounts
Your Methods
Your entities and facilities
Your custom fields and emission factors
What you set up again
These belong to the assessment, so a new one starts empty:
Which accounts are included and excluded
Their categories
Your classification rules
Your trial balances
Your general ledger
Set the account inclusions first, then import the new year's opening and closing trial balances and upload the general ledger, then rebuild the rules. Date the opening balance the day before the new year starts.
Accounts added during the year
New accounts appear in your chart of accounts once we add them. Send us the account code, name and type for anything new. See Chart of accounts: what to include and what to leave out.
Rebuilding your rules
Open last year's assessment alongside the new one and work through the rules in order. Most transfer with the same conditions.
Check two things as you go. Account codes that changed, and suppliers you stopped using.
