Welcome to the Avarni Factor Explorer user guide! This feature allows you to search and view emission factors on Avarni based on many different criteria. Follow the steps below to efficiently use it.
Accessing the Factor Explorer
Navigate to Factor Explorer: From the Avarni dashboard, go to the left-hand sidebar and select Factor Explorer under Data Management.
Database Mode
Database Mode allows you to search through a table of all emission factors available for use in your organisation, including any custom factors you uploaded through the settings.
Filters
Use the filters to narrow your search down by any of the emission factor's fields, such as region, input unit, unit type, source (database), name or coefficient value.
AI Search
If your search term does not return an exact keyword match on an emission factor, the factor explorer will use AI to return the most relevant factors for your search term.
Map Mode
Map mode allows you to visualise the regions covering a particular address or location, and the emission factors applicable for each region. This is useful for understanding what emission factors may be relevant to use for a particular office or facility.
Searching for an Address, City, or Region
Enter Your Search: In the search bar at the top left of the Factor Explorer, type in the address, city, or region you are interested in. The search is intuitive and will provide suggestions as you type.
Selecting a Region
Populate the Region Dropdown: After entering your search term, the Region dropdown menu will automatically populate with all the regions that the entered address falls within.
Select a Region: Click on the dropdown menu and select the region relevant to your search. This action will prompt the sidebar to open, displaying all the emission factors that apply to the selected region.
Viewing Emission Factors
Emission Factors Sidebar: Once you have selected a region, the sidebar on the right will open, listing all the emission factors applicable to that region. This includes detailed information such as the name of the factor, source, and relevant data.
Additional Tools and Tips
Grouping Factors: Click the three dots adjacent a column heading to access the options menu for that column. From here, select "Group By ..." to group the factors by that field.
For example, grouping by Source will group all factors that are from the same factor source together.
