Avarni is at app.avarni.co.
Go to app.avarni.co. You are taken to the sign-in page, and after signing in you land on your organisation.
If you belong to more than one organisation, you choose one first.
Can I create or delete an organisation myself?
An Admin or User can create a new organisation. A Viewer cannot.
Select your organisation's name in the header.
Select Create new organisation.
Enter the Name, Location and Industry, then select Create.
You become the Admin of the new organisation. Invite your team from Settings › Users.
You cannot create an organisation while your current organisation is on a trial.
You cannot delete an organisation in Avarni. If you created one by mistake, tell your Avarni implementation lead.
Single sign-on
Avarni supports single sign-on through these providers:
Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure AD
SAML 2.0
OpenID Connect
Active Directory Federation Services
Google Workspace
Okta and other providers connect over SAML or OpenID Connect.
Avarni configures single sign-on for you. Your IT team supplies the connection details, and we set it up against your email domain.
Contact your Avarni implementation lead to start. Do this in week one, because it often takes longer than the rest of setup.
Once single sign-on is live, anyone at your domain gets an Avarni account the first time they sign in.
Can one single sign-on connection cover several email domains?
Yes. One connection can cover several email domains. Give your Avarni implementation lead every domain your people use to sign in.
Avarni matches each domain exactly. A subdomain, such as team.example.com, is a separate domain. Include it in the list.
People at a domain that is not on the list sign in with a password. Invite them from Settings › Users.
Does single sign-on work with JumpCloud or another OpenID Connect provider?
Yes. Avarni has a general OpenID Connect connection and a general SAML 2.0 connection. A provider that supports either standard can connect. JumpCloud connects over OpenID Connect.
What should I see when I sign in with single sign-on?
Go to app.avarni.co.
Enter your work email address, then continue.
Sign in on your organisation's own sign-in page, for example the Microsoft sign-in page.
If you are already signed in to your identity provider, step 3 is skipped and Avarni opens.
The first time you sign in, Avarni creates your account. You join your organisation as a User. An Admin can change your role in Settings › Users.
Why does the sign-in page ask me to sign up or enter a password?
The sign-in page did not match your email address to your single sign-on connection. Do these checks:
Make sure you entered your work email address, at a domain on your connection.
Open app.avarni.co directly. Some links, such as supplier survey invitations, can open the sign-up page.
Ask your IT team to confirm that your identity provider allows you to use Avarni.
Send your Avarni implementation lead the email address you used and a screenshot of the page.
The fault can be in your identity provider or in Avarni's connection. Do steps 3 and 4 at the same time.
Can single sign-on be switched off, or moved to a new Entra tenancy?
You cannot switch single sign-on off in Avarni. The connection is held in Avarni's sign-in service, not in your organisation settings.
Each Avarni account is linked to the sign-in identity the person used first. If that identity changes, the person's existing account does not open with the new identity. The identity changes when:
you move to a new Microsoft Entra tenancy or a new identity provider
single sign-on is switched off and people change to password sign-in
a person who used a password changes to single sign-on
Tell your Avarni implementation lead before any of these changes. Give the date and the new connection details.
Does Avarni support automatic user provisioning (SCIM)?
No. Avarni does not support SCIM.
Avarni creates an account the first time a person signs in with single sign-on. Removing a person from your identity provider does not remove them from Avarni. An Admin removes them in Settings › Users.
Roles
Three roles are available.
Role | What it can do |
Admin | Everything, plus invite people, change roles, edit the organisation and manage API keys |
User | Add and edit all data, methods, rules, factors, suppliers and reports. Cannot manage people |
Viewer | Read everything and download charts. Cannot change anything |
Can I limit a person to certain pages, such as the Emissions Hub?
No. Each role applies to the whole organisation. A Viewer can read all data in the organisation, including general ledger transactions, suppliers and source documents.
To share less with a verifier, do not invite them. Download the data they need and share it with your evidence files outside Avarni.
In the Emissions Hub, select the download icon, then Download as Excel or Download as CSV.
Invite someone
Go to Settings › Users.
Type the email address and press Enter. Add as many as you need.
Select Invite.
Set the role in the list below, then select Save.
Everyone is invited as User. Set the role you want straight after inviting.
The person receives an email titled "You have been added to [your organisation] on Avarni".
Give your auditor access
Invite your auditor as you would a colleague, then change their role to Viewer before they sign in.
A Viewer can open any emission record, see the source document behind it and download charts. A Viewer cannot change data.
An auditor at an external firm can be invited into an organisation that uses single sign-on. They sign in with a password rather than through your identity provider.
If the auditor's own email domain also uses Avarni single sign-on, ask them to sign in to Avarni once first. The invitation then works.
Remove someone
Go to Settings › Users and select the delete icon next to their name.
This removes their access to your organisation. Data they entered stays.
If your trial or licence has ended
Avarni shows a message and a booking page. Contact your Avarni lead to restore access.
