Entities are the companies in your group. Facilities are the sites those companies operate. Build entities first, because every facility links to one.
Add an entity
Go to Organisation › Entities.
Select Add entity.
Complete the required fields: Name, Type, Parent, Registered / acquired at and Country.
Select Add entity.
Start with your top-level company and set its Parent to (top level). Add subsidiaries and joint arrangements under it.
Type offers Company, Partnership, Trust, Joint operation and Joint venture.
Ownership % is available on any entity below the top level. It is not available at top level.
Company codes resolve your ledger
Add the codes your finance system uses for each entity to the Company codes field. Avarni uses them to resolve general ledger rows to the right entity.
If your ledger identifies entities by a code such as ND01, add that code here.
Add a facility
Go to Organisation › Facilities.
Select Add facility.
Complete Name, the address, Opened / registered and Operating entity.
Select Create facility.
Avarni derives the state and country from the address, so you do not enter them.
A facility links to one operating entity. If the site changes hands, record a change rather than creating a second facility.
Identifiers decide where your data lands
Add the identifiers that your data arrives under. Avarni matches incoming invoices and meter data to a facility using them.
Five identifier types are available by default:

You can add your own types if your data arrives under something else.
Only NMI, MIRN and Account number decide where data lands. Vehicle rego, cost centre and types you create yourself are stored on the facility, but nothing in an upload feeds them.

Record a change, or correct a mistake
Select Edit on an entity or facility. Two options appear:
Record a change. Something changed on a date. Avarni keeps the prior state as history.
Correct this record. A detail was entered wrong. Avarni overwrites it in place.
If the fact was true until a date and then changed, record a change. If the fact was never true, correct the record.
Close a site
There is no delete action for a facility. Open the facility, record a change, and set the Closed date.
The site stops appearing in periods after that date. Data already attributed to it stays.
Entities work the same way. Set Disposed at to retire an entity.
Assign existing data to a facility
The Facilities screen does not bulk assign. Use the Emissions Hub instead.
Go to Emissions Hub.
Filter to the rows you want.
Select the rows and choose Bulk Edit.
Set the combined Entity / Facility field.
Entity and facility are one field so a facility cannot contradict its entity.
