Use Entities and Facilities for your organisation structure. Sub-organisations under Settings › Organisation Structure are being retired.
Sub-organisations keep working for now. New structure work belongs in Entities and Facilities.
What changes
A sub-organisation was one flat label you attached to data. Entities and facilities split that into two records that hold more.
An entity is a company in your group. It carries a type, a parent, an ownership percentage, a country, and the company codes that match your general ledger rows.
A facility is a site that an entity operates. It carries an address, an asset type, the identifiers your data arrives under, and the dates it opened and closed.
Both record changes with effective dates. When you acquire a company or a site changes hands, that becomes history you can report against. A sub-organisation could only be overwritten.
There is no automatic migration
Avarni cannot convert your sub-organisations into entities and facilities. The two are stored separately and no mapping exists between them.
Build your structure by hand under Organisation › Entities and Organisation › Facilities. See Set up your entities and facilities.
Once your facilities carry the right identifiers, Avarni attributes incoming data to them. Existing activity data can be reattributed by our team on request.
Where you will still see sub-organisations
Sub-organisation remains a field in several places:
Emissions Hub: as a column, a filter and a group-by option
General Ledger: as a column and as a field in classification rules
Overview: as a grouping and filter on custom graphs
Methods: as a condition field on a branch
Spreadsheet imports and survey templates
Leave these alone. Use the Entity and Facility fields that sit beside them.
What to do now
Build your entities, starting with the top-level company.
Build your facilities and link each one to the entity that operates it.
Add the identifiers each site's data arrives under, such as NMI or account number.
Add your company codes to each entity so general ledger rows resolve to it.
Stop adding new sub-organisations.
