Most data arrives by upload. Use a manual entry when you have a single figure with no file behind it.

Two options:

Calculate based on factor. Enter a quantity and a unit, such as litres or kilowatt hours, and pick a factor. Avarni calculates the emissions.

Directly enter CO2e amount. Enter the emissions figure yourself, in kilograms of CO2e. Use this when someone else has already calculated it.

Use Calculate based on factor wherever you have the underlying quantity. It keeps the working visible, which is what an auditor wants.

Use Directly enter CO2e amount only when you genuinely have a total and not the inputs, such as a figure from a landlord or a prior year you cannot rebuild.

A directly entered figure carries no factor and no quantity, so nobody can check it later. Record where it came from in the description.

Clone copies a row, which is quicker than starting again for a series of similar entries.

Delete removes it. This cannot be undone.

Use Confirm, Flag and Exclude to work through data. The shortcuts are C, F and E.

A sensible pattern is to filter to unreviewed rows, group by supplier or factor, and confirm in blocks rather than row by row.

You cannot set a status on a row with no factor. Assign one first.

Filter, select the rows, then Bulk Edit.

Leaving a value empty clears that field on every selected row.

Take care with the input unit. Changing it to a unit of a different type clears the emission factor on those rows and returns them to unmapped. Changing kilowatt hours to megawatt hours is safe, because both measure energy. Changing kilowatt hours to litres is not.

After any unit change, check the affected rows and reassign the factor.

You cannot attach a document to a row after it exists. Evidence arrives with an upload.

For a manual entry with supporting material, keep the document in your shared folder and reference it in the description and in your Basis of Preparation.
